Whenever industrial wastewater is collected and treated, there is always a strong, unpleasant stench that is harmful. To control these harmful odour in the treatment facility, wet scrubbers are used to reduce the stench. It takes a widespread application to see sodium hydroxide and calcium nitrate. Alongside the wet scrubbers, hydrochloric acid is also used.

 

Prevention of Infections and Diseases


Many pathogenic organisms thrive in the wastewater, which makes it dangerous for humans. To prevent the spread of diseases, the microorganism must be destroyed. The most common, safe and cheap method is to use the disinfecting chemical, sodium hypochlorite.


Sludge Treatment and Removal


Wastewater will still have sludge that will need disposal. A polymer chemical is used to separate the sludge and water, which reduces the volume. This makes it an easier and cheaper alternative to transport the sludge to the landfill.
